About Torri Martin

As a Standing Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee for the Southern District of Mississippi, Torri brings extensive legal experience spanning private practice, municipal government, and public service. Prior to her current appointment, she served as City Attorney for Jackson, Mississippi’s largest municipality, managing an $8.7 million budget. She has also served as Senior Staff Attorney for Trustee James L. Henley, Jr., and as Special Assistant Attorney General in the Business and Finance group of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.

Torri earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from the University of Mississippi School of Law and holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and French from Bowdoin College. A Mississippi native with a global perspective, she studied and taught in Paris and Clermont-Ferrand, France, before returning home to build her legal career.

She serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations and is active in civic, legal, and community organizations across the state. She is the former President of the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association and the McWillie Elementary School Parent Teacher Association.
