When I stepped into the role of Executive Director last fall, I knew both the promise and the challenges of Mississippi’s charter school landscape. The Mississippi Charter Schools Association (MCSA) is entering an important new chapter—one defined by growth, collaboration, and a renewed commitment to our students, families, and school leaders.
Our newly released Three-Year Strategic Plan (2026–2028) lays out a clear roadmap for how MCSA will strengthen public charter schools, expand access to high-quality options, and build a more unified and credible charter sector across the state. Our plan reflects months of listening and collaborating with charter school leaders, our Board of Directors, and partners. It also responds directly to the realities and opportunities facing charter schools in Mississippi today.
Mississippi families deserve strong public school options led by excellent educators and supported by systems that allow schools to thrive. While Mississippi’s charter sector has made meaningful progress, the next phase of growth requires intentional investment in school quality, leadership development, policy conditions, and public awareness.
MCSA’s strategic plan is rooted in a simple belief: when charter schools have strong leaders, adequate resources, and a supportive policy environment, students succeed. Our plan turns that belief into action.

Over the next three years, MCSA’s work will drive three interconnected outcomes:
These outcomes reinforce one another: strong schools build trust, public support enables growth, and smart policy creates conditions for long-term success.
MCSA’s strategy is built on three interconnected priorities:
Strengthen and Improve Current Schools
We will deepen support for existing charter schools by providing technical assistance, professional development, data tools, and compliance resources, ensuring schools have the resources necessary to deliver excellent outcomes and operate sustainably.
Develop Leaders and Support Education Entrepreneurs
The future of the sector depends on strong leadership. MCSA will cultivate new leaders, support education entrepreneurs, and partner with proven operators to expand high-quality charter options across Mississippi.
Create Conditions Where Strong Schools Can Thrive
Through policy leadership, coalition-building, and public engagement, MCSA will work to strengthen the charter environment, advancing policies that expand access, ensure funding parity, and support responsible growth statewide.

The plan outlines four key activities that will guide our work from 2026 to 2028:
Together, these efforts position MCSA not only as an advocate but as a trusted partner to schools, families, policymakers, and communities across Mississippi.
The next three years will require focus, partnership, and sustained effort — but the opportunity is clear. With our strategic plan, MCSA is committing to a future where charter schools are not only growing but thriving, delivering excellent outcomes and expanding opportunities for students across Mississippi.
I invite you to explore our full plan and join us as we work together to shape the future of public charter schools in Mississippi.
